I don't see anything on screen.
Follow the instructions for what you want to do and make sure that you tap on the link in the first step to learn how to turn on the TV displays and the A/V receiver which controls what is shown on screen.
I don't hear anything.
Try turning the volume up using the Receiver and make sure that it's not muted. If you're using your own device, make sure that its sound output is set to the right connection and try turning up the volume of its sound output if possible.
I'm stuck at an Android TV home screen with some movies and Sony apps showing, but I can't get anything else to work.
Our TV displays are "smart TVs" with their own software, but we're avoiding the built-in "smart TV" system for various reasons. It sounds like you activated the built-in smart TV features by accident. To fix that, press the Input button at the upper left corner of the Sony TV remote to select the HDMI 1 input followed by the unnamed Enter button in the middle of the remote:

Where do I find the AirPlay passcode?
It's shown on screen by the Apple TV and it changes every time you connect. Using the passcode system means that no one can accidentally interrupt your connection. To stop an AirPlay connection, either disconnect on your device or press the Menu button on the Apple TV remote.
How do I prevent my Google Cast connection from being interrupted?
At this point, you can't. 🙁 Each device's connection kicks off the previous device that was connected. If that's a problem, your best bet is to switch to another connection type if possible. Or you can try to track down the interrupter based on what is shown on screen and who is around. They're probably doing it accidentally, so go easy on them. 😀
